Fiberglass Repair

Cracked, shattered, or delaminated fiberglass — rebuilt and refinished.

Fiberglass is everywhere on a modern vehicle — bumper covers, ground effects, fender flares, hood scoops, kit-car panels, and entire body shells on classics and exotics. When fiberglass cracks, spiders, or shatters, most shops want to replace the whole part. At Airpark Auto Collision, we rebuild it. Our techs grind, glass, gel-coat, fair, prime, and paint fiberglass to a factory finish — saving you the cost of a new panel and matching the original profile exactly.

Structural fiberglass repair

Cracks, breaks, and impact damage are repaired from both sides — back-side glassed with woven and chopped strand mat for strength, front-side filled and faired with body filler or epoxy. We rebuild missing chunks of fiberglass with new layup so the finished part is stronger than the original.

Gel-coat and surface restoration

Faded, chalky, or spider-cracked gel-coat is wet-sanded, repaired, and refinished. For panels that originally had paint, we prep with epoxy primer designed for fiberglass and refinish in our downdraft booth.

Fitment and contour matching

A fiberglass repair only looks right if the panel sits flush with the surrounding sheet metal. We mock up, shim, and trim until gaps are even and contours flow — no high spots, no waves, no telltale repair lines.

Kit cars, classics, and specialty panels

We work on Corvettes, kit cars, classic and exotic body panels, fiberglass-bodied hot rods, and aftermarket aero. If the part was originally fiberglass, we can repair it.

Frequently asked questions

Can a cracked fiberglass bumper be repaired instead of replaced?

In most cases, yes. Fiberglass repairs well as long as the underlying structure is sound. Cracks, breaks, and even missing chunks can be rebuilt with new layup and refinished to factory appearance. We'll tell you honestly when a replacement is the smarter choice.

How long does fiberglass repair take?

Small repairs: 1–2 days. Larger structural repairs with paint blending: 3–7 days, depending on the size of the affected area and how much paint match work is needed.

Will the repair be visible?

Done right, no. A proper fiberglass repair — laid up front and back, faired flat, primed, and refinished in a booth — should be invisible to a layperson. We don't release work that doesn't match.

Do you work on boats or RVs?

We focus on automotive fiberglass, but we have repaired marine and RV panels brought to the shop. Give us a call at (301) 908-0606 with photos and we'll let you know if it's a fit.
