Clear coat scratches: buff and polish

If your fingernail catches in the scratch but you can't see metal, it's usually in the clear coat. We can buff and polish these out for a fraction of repaint cost — typically same-day service. If a buff won't clear it, we'll move to wet-sanding and re-clear.

Deep scratches and key marks

Scratches that reach the base color or expose metal need to be filled, primed, color-matched, cleared, and polished. We blend the new finish into the surrounding panel so the repair is invisible. Color-matched touch-up paint is also available for very small dings.

Bumper scuffs and curb damage

Curb rash on bumpers and lower trim is one of the most common scuff jobs. We sand, fill, prime, color-match, and refinish — usually completed in 2–3 days.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to fix a car scratch?

Clear coat buff-out: $100–$250. Deep scratch repair with color-matched paint: $300–$700 per panel. Larger or multi-panel scratches: priced after a free estimate.

Can all scratches be buffed out?

Only the ones that stay in the clear coat. If your fingernail catches in the scratch, it usually can be buffed. If you can see white primer, base color, or metal, the scratch needs filling and refinishing.

Will the touch-up be visible?

Done right, no. We computer-match the color, blend it into the panel, and polish to factory gloss. The exception is very small touch-ups on dark or pearl finishes, where we'll tell you up front what to expect.

How long does scratch repair take?

Clear coat buff: same day. Deep scratch repair with paint: 2–4 days. Bumper scuff with refinish: 2–3 days.
